FAQ's and useful information

Sure is! Although we know Bikram Yoga as “The Original Hot Yoga” the style was not initially taught in a heated room, that came later! So it is perfectly safe to practice without the added heat, however if you are used to your Bikram Yoga being conducted in a 40 degree room then you might feel it differently in your body when practising outdoors and it is good to be mindful of this.

In line with current government requirements for wearing a mask, masks are required to be worn at all times outdoors. An exception to this is “when you are doing any exercise or physical activity where you are out of breath or puffing”. You will be required to wear a mask at all times while participating in Flex Studios outdoor classes, unless you are exerting yourself to a level where you are out of breath or puffing, as above.

As we slowly find our way out of ‘lockdown’ we will soon be legally allowed to offer outdoor classes for up to 10 people while indoor classes are still banned under government regulations. Just like you we can’t wait to get back into the hot room but until then we are excited to be able to move, sweat and unwind with you outdoors!

At Ascot Vale our outdoor program will include our outdoor version of Bikram 90, Bikram 60, HIIT Pilates, Yoga Flow and Power Fusion.

At Lynbrook our outdoor program will include our outdoor version of Bikram 90, Bikram 60, Mat Pilates and Yoga Flow.

Ahhhh nature! It’s good to get outdoors and soak up that Vitamin D (remember to wear sunscreen!).

We hope that you will enjoy getting outside and having the chance to do your favourite classes again after 7 months of lockdown. However, we kindly ask students to acknowledge that outdoor classes will not replicate in studio conditions and that there may be factors out of Flex Studios control including but not limited to weather, temperature, noise, visibility to members of the general public, ground conditions etc. We will not be able to ‘pump up the jams’ because we need to be respectful of others and our sound pollution. We won’t be able to replicate the heat unless the sun does it for us (again, sunscreen please). We won’t be able to prevent curious passers-by from having a cheeky look. And we won’t be able to provide amenities like bathrooms, drinks and towels. We will be able to have fun though!

By signing up to outdoor classes you agree to accept these conditions and understand we can not provide the exact same experience outdoors as we do inside.

We will run classes in all reasonable weather conditions unless it is extreme or unsafe. In the instance that we deem the weather to be extreme or unsafe, Flex Studios will cancel the class and students will not be charged.

Please ensure you wear sunscreen for all classes, even if it doesn’t appear sunny when you are leaving the house.
We also suggest wearing or bringing layers of clothing so that you can layer up or layer down depending on the weather conditions.

Please note sunscreen will not be provided so please BYO if you need to.
A friendly reminder for those that is need it, it is also hayfever season and we will be on grass.

To each session you will need to bring:

  • your own yoga mat
  • a full water bottle
  • a face mask
  • a sweat towel
  • sunscreen
  • layers, to be prepared for Melbourne weather
  • hayfever relief if required
We will not have mats, towels or drinks available to rent or hire so please come prepared

The outdoor schedule looks different as we need to adhere to our council issued permits for outdoor activity.
When we return to in studio classes, you can expect the schedule to look very similar to what it did before we had to temporarily close. If your favourite teacher is not teaching they may simply be unavailable for this outdoor program, but rest assured they can’t wait to see you back in studio when the time comes!

Yes you absolutely can, but please be sure to read the below first:

  • To use an existing pass for the outdoor program, you must contact Flex Studios via email to reactivate your pass first (because all passes are otherwise suspended during studio closure).
  • All class attendance for the outdoor program will be limited to 1 class per day even if you are on an unlimited pass or pass that generally allows you to attend more classes. This is because of the reduced capacity for outdoor classes and to ensure fair attendance opportunities for all students. It is the students responsibility to determine if they wish to reactivate their existing pass or purchase a new one based on these conditions.
  • Any passes purchased for the outdoor program will also be able to be used when in studio classes resume

Please ensure you are up to date with current government restrictions regarding travel within or further than your 25 km radius. Please check the DHHS website for updates. It is the students responsibility to ensure they are adhering to government restrictions.

We intend to run the outdoor classes program until in studio classes are allowed to resume.
However, Flex Studios reserves the right to change or cancel the outdoor classes program at any time.

  • Prior to class your teacher will place out cones on the grass to indicate where students can place their mats, and these will all be spaced at least 1.5 meters apart.
  • Masks are to be worn in line with government requirements (please see above).
  • Teachers will provide verbal feedback only and remain 1.5 meters from students.
  • As pre-bookings are essential, class check in is completely contactless.
  • Hand sanitiser will be available.
  • Pre-bookings through MindBody allow for excellent contact tracing should it be required, please ensure your details in MindBody are up to date.
  • No props or equipment will be used for outdoor classes although you are welcome to bring your own.
  • You can see our complete Covid-safe plan at www.flexstudios.com.au/covid-safe-plan

Our normal ‘6 am Booking Policy’ applies to all outdoor classes (minimum 4 students to run).
This means we will cancel a class if there is less than 4 booked in, 4 hours prior to the class commencing. Students will not be charged if the class is cancelled due to low booking numbers.

Our Late Cancel and No Show fees also apply (charges apply if cancelling less than 4 hours before class).
You can view the full policies at www.flexstudios.com.au/terms-and-conditions/

We understand that ‘life happens’ and sometimes late cancelations are unavoidable, however we will be enforcing these fees and policies without exception. Flex Studios is a small, family owned business and like many others we have suffered significant losses as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic. With restricted class capacity, it greatly hurts our business and our team when cancelations and no shows occur. Therefore, by booking your spot in class, you agree to pay for that spot even if you can’t make it at the last minute. We appreciate your consideration and understanding.

All class attendance for the outdoor program will be
