Light and comfortable exercise wear such as a tshirt and leggings. In heated classes you may feel more comfortable wearing shorts and a singlet because of the heat, but the choice is yours, just make sure you are comfortable to move.

Yes we do! At Flex Studios we have changeroom facilities, toilets and showers available for students. The studio is open for 15 minutes before class, and 15 minutes after class for you to use these facilities.

You bet you can! In fact, all the more reason to start! With regular practise, you will be amazed how quickly your flexibility can improve.

At Flex Studios we also believe that moving your body is what really matters … so find a class style you love and come #MoveSweatUnwind with us, we don’t care if you can or can’t touch your toes!

Absolutely not, not now, not ever. You are never too old to start!

Yoga and pilates can be great practises for children and teens, however Flex Studios is a space for adults and students at Flex Studios must be 18 years or older to attend our classes (even if accompanied by a parent).

We are taking expressions of interest for children, teen and family classes. We can facilitate private lessons for families with children. Contact us to find our more.

We recommend reading through our ‘new students’ and ‘class etiquette’ sections below before coming to your first class. Then check out our ‘where to find us‘ page to plan your journey, and arrive 15 minutes early so the teacher can assist you before your first class begins.

It is not unusual to feel overwhelmed in your first few hot classes.
If this feeling occurs, sit down on your mat, take a sip of water, breathe and relax. You can join back in at your own pace or remain like this for the rest of the class. Staying in the room will allow you to adjust to the heat, and allow the teacher to keep an eye on you. Always make sure you are well hydrated before coming into class!

Firstly, congratulations! While some of our classes may be suitable during pregnancy, your doctor is the best and only person who can determine what is suitable for you, and you should always seek their advice and approval before taking class, especially a hot class!

We do not allow practice in hot classes for those in their first trimester and after this we require a doctor’s note to participate.
Hot classes are only appropriate for those who have had a regular hot yoga or hot pilates practice prior to falling pregnant (and with doctors approval). We do not recommend starting hot yoga or hot pilates for the first time during your pregnancy.

With your doctors approval, Reformer Pilates may be suitable during your pregnancy. Please confirm any personal limitations with your doctor before coming to class and let your teacher know prior to participating.

It is a good idea to have a read through our terms and conditions, including our booking and cancelation policies, which can be found here.

At Flex Studios we invite you to come as you are! We welcome adults of all ages and fitness levels at Flex Studios and love introducing beginners to yoga and pilates!

At Flex Studios we aim to foster a safe space, poor behaviour towards staff and students will not be tolerated.

NEW STUDENTS

  • Bring for reformer classes: a sweat towel, and a water bottle.
  • Come back soon – within 48 hours if possible and practice often when you first start out to make the most of your introductory period.

STUDIO ETIQUETTE

To ensure the comfort of all students, please keep the following in mind when entering the classroom:

  • Ensure you arrive early, as doors will be locked promptly at the class starting time. Late entry is not permitted.
  • Please respect other students enjoying quiet time on their mat before and after class by keeping noise to a minimum.
  • Students are encouraged to sit or lie down on their mat at any time during the class to rest. This is less disruptive than coming and going from the classroom. We ask that you do not leave the classroom until the class has come to an end.
  • Perfumes and heavy scents are amplified in the hot room so please save them until after class.
  • Follow the instructions of the teacher and concentrate on your own practice, not those around you.
  • No mobile phones, shoes or glass bottles allowed in the studio.
  • Only water allowed in the studio (other drinks are sticky if they spill).
  • Please clean any shared equipment after class using the wipes provided.
